Kuopio Health Insights 2024 (KHI 2024) is about experiencing firsthand how a relatively small yet incredibly dedicated and collaborative ecosystem has blossomed into a powerful, data-driven innovation magnet within the health and wellbeing sector in Finland – and how it is leading the digital health transformation and creating positive health outcomes for people in Finland and beyond. Kuopio Health Insights 2024 will focus on Pharma Development and Digital Health. This two-day event will take place on 13.-14.8 at Kuopio Music Centre.
Kuopio Health is backed by multi-disciplinary and trusted private and public organisations with high competence in business, international expertise, R&D and research excellence.

Päivi Sillanaukee (MD, PhD, eMBA) is the Special Envoy for Health and Wellbeing at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health of Finland.
Erkki Soini
CEO, ESiOR Oy and chairman of the board, Kuopio Health
Health economics expert in cost-effectiveness, market access, and Real-World Evidence (RWE).
Miikka Korja
Dr. Korja is Cerebrovascular Consultant and Head of Section at the Department of Neurosurgery, HUS
Surgical activities cover mainly aneurysms and giant meningiomas. In his research group, he supervises PhD students studying epidemiology of SAH, genetics of meningiomas, epidemiology of meningiomas and deep learning in diagnostic imaging.
Ville Kainu
Primary Care Medical Lead, Pfizer
Kainu is a medical doctor and his PhD focused on lipidomics and the implications of mass spectrometry in analyzing phospholipid remodeling. The key drivers in the current work is to improve patients’ access to novel therapies, find solutions to patient support and lead with data by utilizing the vast registries in Nordic countries.
Markus Kalliola
Project director, The Finnish innovation fund Sitra, Finland
Kalliola is the project director in Data driven health project in The Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and the coordinator of Joint Action Towards The European Health Data Space 2 (TEHDAS 2).
Arash Hajikhani
Research Team Leader | Adjunct Professor at LUT University
Dr. Hajikhani is a scholar and Research Team Leader at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland's, Foresight-driven Business Strategies area
Tuomas Granlund
RegOps Development Director, Solita Oy
Tuomas Granlund, a PhD candidate (final stages) at the University of Tampere, bridges the worlds of academia and industry as RegOps Development Director at Solita. His deep understanding of medical device regulations and modern software development drives a passion for streamlined, compliant innovation within the healthcare sector.
Janne Weisell
Senior Manager, Manufacturing Science and Technology, FinVector Oy
Dr. Weisell is the Manager of the Process Development team, with a focus on life cycle management and process improvements of the manufacturing process to make gene therapy products more available. He holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
Johannes Holvitie
Dr., Adj. Prof., CTO, Oiva Health Oy
Holvitie is a digital solution enthusiast who focuses on the immediate and daunting resourcing and availability issues in social- and health-care services production. He is the CTO of the Oiva Health Group that builds and serves a mission-critical and high availability digital services platform utilized by private and public healthcare producers.
Ilkka Haukijärvi
CEO, PhD, Finnish Vaccine Research
Ilkka has worked in various line-management and leadership roles as well as demanding project and program management positions. He has solid experience in leading strategies and strategic changes, and in operational management of organizations.
Henri Korkalainen
Adjunct Professor//Senior Researcher//UEF//KUH
Henri Korkalainen specializes in the intersection of artificial intelligence and healthcare. His work has focused on leveraging deep learning to automate the diagnostics of sleep disorders and to also move these solutions from specialized laboratories to home environments.
Maarit Merla
MSc (Econ), eMBA, CBM,CEO, Finnish Drug Discovery Center
Maarit has worked in the life science sector for more than 22 years, including in an international diagnostics company, a biotechnology start-up and a global pharmaceutical group.
Jukka Tapaninen
CEO of Aiforia Technologies Oyj
Jukka joined Aiforia as an investor and board member in 2015 and became CEO in 2020. Prior to joining Aiforia, Jukka held various executive positions over the past 25 years in several international IT and software businesses, such as SAP and HP.
Ville Leinonen
MD, PhD, UEF
Earned his MD, PhD (in Physiology) and specialist degree in Neurosurgery from University of Kuopio. Appointed as the Professor of Neurosurgery University of Oulu 2017 and invited for his current position as the Professor of Neurosurgery in University of Eastern Finland (UEF), 2020. Currently, he is the Head of the Department of Medicine at UEF.
Prateek Singh
CEO, Finnadvance OY
Prateek has spun off research to business, bringing microfabrication and automation technologies to life-sciences and diagnostics industries with venture-backed companies.
Eeva Salminen
Senior Director, Business Finland
Eeva Salminen is a leader with 20 years of experience in business development. Her special competence areas include growth companies & health sector. Currently she works as Senior Director of Health & Consumer as well as leading the Health Mission in Business Finland. Prior to Business Finland, she has worked several years in management consulting.

About the event
Where will the event take place?
+Our two-day open event takes place at Kuopio Music Centre (Kuopion Musiikkikeskus), Finland, Kuopionlahdenkatu 23.
Day one, 13.8., offers a half-day seminar and unique and relaxing networking opportunity aboard by scenic Kuopio boat cruise on beautiful Lake Kallavesi. Day two will be filled with engaging sessions and activities. The event will culminate with a special dinner at Luoto Kuopio on 14.8.
The cruise departs from the Passenger Port of Kuopio (Kuopion Matkustajasatama). The ship is Roll Cruises' m/s Queen R. Makasiinikatu 1, 70100 Kuopio
Luoto Kuopio location: Aallonmurtaja, Makasiininkatu 5, 70100 Kuopio.

Free cancellation of the room reservation by 6 pm on the day of arrival.
In the center of Kuopio, everything is within walking distance.
Arrival at Kuopio Music Centre:
Parking
If you arrive by car or bus, there are 118 car and 16 bus spaces in the parking lot opposite the main entrance of the Kuopio Music Center (Kuopionlahdenkatu). The parking area is subject to the city's parking control.
Parking on weekdays
Parking during the day between 8 am and 4 pm is free for the first 2 hours in the first two parking spaces closest to the main entrance of the Music Center. If the duration of the event is longer than two hours, a parking permit is required, which can be obtained from the Music Center staff. Other parking area in front of the Music Center is a free area.
In the evenings after 16:00 it is free of charge in the parking lot of the Music Center. In addition, parking spaces can be found near the Music Center along the side streets.
On weekends, the aforementioned restrictions do not apply.
Disabled parking spaces (4 pcs) are located in the parking area on the Puijonkatu side of the Kuopio Music Center, which can be accessed from the Kuopiolahdenkatu side.
